A federal appeals court in Washington on Thursday agreed to allow National Guard troops stationed by President Trump in the city since August to remain for now, blocking a lower court judge’s order that the Guard’s presence was unlawful and that the troops should be removed by Dec. 11.
Karoline Leavitt said Adm. Mitch Bradley made the order for the second strike. Both chambers of Congress return to Washington, D.C., on Monday after Thanksgiving recess, working through the remainder of the year on government funding bills.
Scrutiny grows over the legality of continued US strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean. Meanwhile, Trump is expected to meet on the sidelines of the World Cup draw with the leaders of Canada and Mexico.
